Okay, you sold me.

I love seeing writers writing dialogue older than the performers.

Like when Buffy used Stepford as an adjective, or George Michael singing about Doris Day. Or Susanna Hoff singing about dreaming about Rudolf Valentino. I mean, I could see Prince having that dream, but not her.

As far as the Sopranos discussion goes, that never happened here in NJ, because we knew it was true enough to be a stereotype, and not true enough to be a blanket statement about all Italian Americans. And also, the show was specifically a mob opera, a genre that's a more stylized crime drama as opposed to an accurate depiction of modern organized crime.
