Synchronicity indeed! I just got off the phone with my sister, who has two boys and three foster children with disabilities. She is a retired emergency room nurse. She refuses to take the vaccine and virtually nobody in her community will (let alone masking, even when they crowd into their church that holds several thousand at a time). Nearly 95% of them belong to a huge evangelical Baptist megachurch preaching Trumpism and Anti-Vac and other conspiratorial nonsense (I leave Speaking in Tongues aside as even their pastor doesn't like to talk about it in his sermons).

She sent me a DM this morning on the latest nonsense, a tweet originating from a retired veterinarian and ardent Adventist posing as a top virologist researcher (he hasn't published since 1995 and then on animal medicine). His tweet was broadcast (in German, curiously) by the official Russian propaganda arm on a multitude of social media sites and is exploding on the internet blogosphere. It is an insane diatribe about vaccine physically changing your red blood cells (observable under a microscope, he says, which is also ridiculous as any hematologist will tell you). He also says the vaccine lasts forever in you body, which it does not. Evidence is the first people vaccinated may already need booster shots. Yet we are hearing professional sports figures whose very professional careers are based on their physical health, and have free access to teams of physicians, refusing to take a shot because they say they won't be able to have children if thy do.

The so-called expert also has some weird scenario (visualized in an attached internet video she also sent as a football play diagram) which itself is addled as if you follow its own logic means the special teams kicker causes the defense to trip over him on the field and cause the QB to fumble the ball, but I digress) where the vaccine antibodies crowd out and outcompete the non-specific antibodies already present in the body.

If that was how it works I would run out and infect myself with coronavirus today. I suffer from general basal Myastenia Gravis, a rare disease where I naturally produce anti-bodies that go haywire and attack my nerve synapses and weaken my muscles and affecting everything from breathing, speaking and swallowing and a host of other symptoms. The only way to control it is medication that suppresses my immune system, thus making a vaccine nearly worse than useless.

The CDC and other researchers are just now realizing there are many like me who have naturally or medically-induced immune-compromised status, and are attempting to come up with some sort of booster to stimulate the specific anti-coronavirus antibodies for our group.

I wish people had a least a smattering of general knowledge or some innate critical skills before ingesting nonsense like this. I know librarians with MLS and other degrees who belonged to Space-Alien millenarian & messianic cults or believe in Reptilian Aliens hiding among us. Something at least as old as the fiction book Etidorphia as I am sure you know, Jason.

It frightens me that I talk to people every day who refuse to listen to anything but conspiracy theories without any ability to examine them critically.

I am in South Florida and at the epicenter of the greatest outbreak in the country due to the "I am Trumpier than Trump" Gov. Ron 'DR. Death' Desantis who is willing to oversee a Slaughter of the Innocents to position himself as the next Coming of Trump.
